Catch Me, a new musical about male suicide, will run at London’s Above the Arts Theatre from 21 November to 3 December 2016, with a press night on 23 November.
City Stories returns to London for two nights only on 20 and 21 October 2016. A suite of short plays set to music, the fully-titled City Stories: Tales of Love and Magic in London is a sequence of interwoven love stories written and directed by award-winning playwright James Phillips in an ode to our beloved capital.
What it’s like being on tour? I’ve done a few tours and I really enjoy them. The different theatres and places you go to and different audiences reaction. I get paid to sing and dance doing what I love it’s like a dream come true I feel really lucky. You eat together, you live together and rehearse together so you do get closer, it feels more like a family unit.
This summer, Selfridges have joined forces with one of the most exciting emerging young British theatre companies in the UK, The Faction, to celebrate Shakespeare400 with a new staging of Much Ado About Nothing at The reFASHIONed Theatre, a pop-up performance space inside the famous Oxford Street store. It runs from 23 August to 24 September 2016, with a press night on 26 August.
Joining the cast from Monday 5 September are Siôn Lloyd as ‘Monsieur Firmin’; Mark Oxtoby as ‘Monsieur Andre’; Paul Ettore Tabone as ‘Piangi’ and Daisy Hulbert as ‘Meg’. Also continuing their roles are: Megan Llewellyn as ‘Carlotta’ and Jacinta Mulcahy as ‘Madame Giry’. Harriet Jones returns as alternate ‘Christine Daaé’.
Casting – including Jenna Russell and John Owen-Jones – has been announced for the concert production of Howard Goodall and Melvyn Bragg’s rousing 1984 musical The Hired Man, which will play London’s Cadogan Hall on 22 September 2016.

Howard Goodall and Melvyn Bragg’s rousing 1984 musical The Hired Man will receive its first major concert presentation in over twenty years at London’s Cadogan Hall on 22 September 2016, narrated by Bragg himself.
The Original Theatre Company and Salisbury Playhouse in association with Eastbourne Theatres will present the national tour of Emlyn Williams’ psychological thriller, NIGHT MUST FALL, directed by Luke Sheppard and starring Gwen Taylor as Mrs Bramson. The tour will begin at Devonshire Park Theatre in Eastbourne on 19 August 2016, with a national press night on Wednesday 7 September at Salisbury Playhouse.
New cast have joined the London production of Disney’s THE LION KING this month. Alongside changes in the ensemble cast, Nicholas Afoa has taken on the role of Simba at the West End’s Lyceum Theatre.
The Stephen Sondheim Society and Mercury Musical Developments have announced the winners of the Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year and Stiles + Drewe Prize. The winners were revealed at the 10th anniversary West End Gala held at the Novello Theatre which was hosted by star of stage and screen Julian Ovenden.

After an incredible ten-year tenure, Paul Robinson, artistic director of London’s Theatre503, is moving on. From 1 June 2016, he’ll be taking over as artistic director of the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough, where he’ll be moving this summer with his family.

Pictures from the rehearsal room just released…. Casting has been announced for the Music & Lyrics Limited and West Yorkshire Playhouse production of the much-loved Sherman Brothers musical CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG. The 2016-17 UK and Ireland tour begins at Mayflower Theatre, Southampton on 10 February 2016.
It is announced that Claudie Blakley, Marcus Fraser, Mark Hadfield and Alex Macqueen will join previously confirmed cast members Kenneth Branagh and Rob Brydon in the Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company’s new comedy The Painkiller. The fifth production in the Plays at the Garrick season will play from 5 March until 30 April with press night on 17 March.
