As part of her ongoing post-show Q&A series, on Saturday 28 July 2018, Mates co-founder Terri Paddock is at London’s Soho Theatre for the highly anticipated return of Vicky Jones’ award-winning debut play The One. Got any questions for the team?

Multi award-winning company Dry Write return to Soho Theatre this summer with a new production of co-founder Vicky Jones‘ Verity Bargate-winning 2013 debut play The One.

Harry and Jo are up all night drawing the battle lines of their relationship with sex, violence and Wotsits. A viciously funny and daring play, The One invites you into the world of a couple trapped in a destructive and violent cycle of love and lust.

“Savage, uncomfortably funny” – Independent
“The dialogue fizzes, sparky & unsettling” – Evening Standard
“Thrillingly written & brilliantly staged” – The Stage

Jones’ “astounding and astonishing” (Telegraph) debut won the Verity Bargate Award in 2013 and had its premiere at Soho Theatre in 2014, helmed by artistic director Steve Marmion with a cast including DryWrite co-founder Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

The One returns to Soho Theatre this summer for a limited run. Tuppence Middleton (War and Peace and Netflix’s Sense8) now stars alongside John Hopkins and Julia Sandiford, once again directed by Steve Marmion and designed by Anthony Lamble.

Now an Associate Company at Soho, DryWrite, founded and run by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Vicky Jones, started its relationship with Soho by producing, in the Upstairs space, Jack Thorne’s Mydidae and Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag, now a six-part television sitcom. Last summer, DryWrite premiered Jones’ latest play, Touch, to huge critical acclaim. Fleabag continues to tour nationally and internationally.

THE ONE runs for 75 minutes. For the post-show Q&A after the 3pm matinee on Saturday 28 July 2018, I’ll be joined by members of the creative team and cast to discuss the play’s inspiration and development.
